Teen Arrested for Bribing Officials to Free Drug Suspect Boyfriend
An 18-year-old woman in Chaiyaphum province was arrested for attempting to bribe district officials with 100,000 baht to release her boyfriend, who had been detained during a drug raid that seized 84 meth pills and 2 grams of ice. The woman was caught in a sting operation at the Kang Kro District Office and charged with bribery, while police investigate the source of the money.
On October 23, 2026, Chaiyaphum Governor Anan Naknim received a report from Kang Kro District Chief Prathok Busawankorn and Phu Khiao District Chief Pol. Lt. Col. Kittipong Yotchaiphet. Following orders to integrate forces for the 'Pitak Mueang Phaya La' operation to crack down on drugs in border areas, officials acted on tips from locals and informants.
Thanwir Angsuchawalit, Deputy District Chief for Security in Kang Kro, coordinated with Phu Khiao's special operations team led by Deputy District Chief Piti Patchakhiao and territorial defense volunteers. They surrounded and searched a target house in Moo 1, Nong Kham Subdistrict, Kang Kro District, Chaiyaphum Province.
The search yielded one male and one female suspect along with 84 methamphetamine pills and 2 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice) inside the residence. The suspects were charged with drug offenses and handed over to Kang Kro police for legal proceedings.
Subsequently, an 18-year-old woman claiming to be the male suspect's wife contacted the arrest team to negotiate her boyfriend's release, offering a large sum of cash. Thanwir coordinated a plan for her to bring the money to the Kang Kro District Office, with the event recorded as evidence.
Upon her arrival, officials searched her bag and found 100,000 baht in cash intended as a bribe for the suspect's release. She was arrested on charges of offering property to an official to induce wrongful action, and the case was forwarded to Kang Kro police to investigate the money's source before proceeding with legal action.
