US Embassy Hosts American Fair Celebrating 250th Independence Anniversary
The US Embassy in Thailand is hosting the American Fair at Siam Paragon in Bangkok from October 23-25 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence. The free event features US food, music, cultural exhibits, family activities, and a performance by America's Got Talent winner Nene Royal. Ambassador John O'Neill described the fair as a way to share a special national milestone with Thai friends in a country he considers a second home.
The US Embassy in Thailand organized the American Fair in Bangkok from October 23-25, 2026, at Park Paragon, Siam Paragon, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of US independence, offering free admission to experience American food, music, culture, and innovation.
On October 23 at 6:15 PM, US Ambassador John O'Neill presided over the opening ceremony alongside Bangkok Deputy Governor Tavida Kamolvej, Tourism Authority of Thailand Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, and Siam Piwat Vice Chairman Wirat Santipraphop, with Thai and American guests in attendance.
Ambassador O'Neill said he felt honored and delighted to celebrate America's 250th birthday in Bangkok, likening the celebration to a family birthday where friends are invited to share the special moment. He noted the embassy held American Fairs across Thailand this year, starting in Hat Yai, Songkhla, then Nakhon Ratchasima and Chiang Mai, before concluding in Bangkok. The format was inspired by US state fairs where communities gather for food, music, games, and shared activities.
"I'm very proud to be American, and this is a special year for the United States. I've lived in Thailand three times, so Thailand is like home to me in many ways. Celebrating my country's birthday with so many Thai friends in a country where I've lived is especially meaningful," the ambassador said.
Bangkok highlights include live music performances, American food and products, family activities such as mechanical bull riding, face painting, and the Freedom 250 Explorer Passport sticker collection. SCBX Next Tech offers a "Your Name in Landsat" activity using NASA satellite imagery, plus panel discussions with business and technology leaders.
The ambassador said visitors can choose activities to their liking, including American foods like US apples and California cheese, as well as Thai dishes made with American ingredients such as US beef in massaman curry. Ford vehicles and Harley-Davidson motorcycles are also on display.
Another key attraction is a performance by Nene Royal, winner of America's Got Talent, scheduled for October 24 at 7:00 PM. The ambassador cited her success as an example of the "American Dream" after she traveled to the US to compete and made her dream come true.
The American Fair is free and open to the public from October 23-25, 2026, 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Park Paragon, Siam Paragon.
