Motorbike Taxi Driver Arrested for Resort Robbery in Minburi
Police in Bangkok arrested a motorbike-taxi driver who robbed a Myanmar woman guarding a resort in Minburi, stealing her phone, cash, and the CCTV server while forgetting to remove his uniform shirt. The suspect said he needed the money to buy drugs and has a prior record of robbery and attempted murder. He was apprehended at his flat in Khlong Tan and now faces robbery charges.
According to police, the incident occurred around 04:15 on 19 October when a man on a red motorcycle entered a resort on Bueang Khwang Road in Minburi and approached a Myanmar woman who was on duty. The suspect, wearing a long-sleeved shirt, long trousers, a black balaclava, and his motorbike-taxi uniform, threatened her with a gun and a knife, causing minor facial injuries. He stole her mobile phone and about 10,000 baht in cash before fleeing. The woman alerted a friend, who contacted the resort owner. CCTV footage identified the robber as Phubet, a motorbike-taxi driver from the Ramkhamhaeng area in Wang Thonglang. Police tracked him down and arrested him at the Khlong Tan flats at 15:00 on the same day. During questioning, Phubet admitted he wore his vin shirt while committing the robbery, took the money and phone, and also took the CCTV server to avoid identification, saying he needed cash to buy drugs. He confessed to previous robbery and attempted murder offenses. He has been charged with robbery and will be prosecuted according to law.
