Younger Man Strikes Down Armed Intruder With Wood
An older man armed with a gun went to his younger neighbor’s house in Pipun district and threatened to shoot him. The younger man defended himself by striking the intruder repeatedly with a wooden plank, killing him on the spot. Police have charged the younger man with intentional homicide after determining the killing arose from a long‑standing personal dispute.
The incident occurred at a residence in Tambon Khuan Klang, Amphoe Pipun, where police found the body of Thawat, 60, from Tambon Sakhu, Amphoe Phra Saeng, Surat Thani province. He had sustained multiple blows to the head from a wooden plank, resulting in severe wounds and swelling, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The perpetrator, Surachet, 40, of Amphoe Pipun, Nakhon Si Thammarat, did not flee after the attack; he stood holding the same plank and waited to surrender. During interrogation, Surachet said that Thawat had come to his house, loudly declared he would come shoot him to death, prompting Surachet to grab a nearby wooden plank about one metre long and strike Thawat repeatedly in the head until he died. He then waited for police to arrive and surrender. Officers confirmed that the motive stemmed from a prior personal grudge, with the two men having repeatedly exchanged threats and insults. Surachet has been charged with intentional homicide and will be prosecuted after the autopsy; his body will be released to relatives for funeral rites according to tradition.
