Deputy PM Says Anutin-Thamanat Meal Is Normal, Denies Political Moves
Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsi downplayed a photo of Anutin Charnvirakul and Thamanat Prompow sharing an Indian meal, saying it is normal political interaction. He denied claims that the meeting aimed to bring the green faction into government or intimidate the red faction, and stressed that any Cabinet reshuffle is the Prime Minister's prerogative.
Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsi commented that the image of Anutin Charnvirakul and Thamanat Prompow having Indian food together is a normal occurrence among senior politicians. He dismissed suggestions that the meeting was an attempt to lure the green camp into the government or to threaten the red camp, saying such interpretations are unfounded. Songsak emphasized that any reshuffle of the Cabinet depends entirely on the Prime Minister’s decision and that he cannot confirm rumors about ministries being allocated to the Kaetham Party. He added that ministerial changes occur over time and are not automatic triggers for a Cabinet reshuffle, noting that the government has only been in office for a few months. Songsak said he continues to carry out his assigned duties and attends meetings regularly.
