Man Dies After Car Hits Concrete Sign Base In Sattahip
A 33-year-old man from Nonthaburi died after his car crashed into a concrete sign base on Highway 331 in Sattahip, Chonburi, on the evening of October 17, 2026. Rescue crews extricated him from the wreckage and performed CPR before he was taken to Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police are investigating whether speed and poor street lighting contributed to the crash.
At 6:50 p.m. on October 17, 2026, the Sattahip Siang Rojjanatham Foundation rescue unit received a report that a sedan had lost control, veered off the road and struck a concrete pole, leaving the driver seriously injured. Responders from the Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital medical team and motorway rescue units rushed to help. At the scene they found a blue Toyota Altis, license plate from Phetchaburi, that had slammed into the concrete base of a roadside sign, knocking it over and heavily damaging the car. Inside, the driver, Wannaphat, 33, of Nonthaburi, was found with critical injuries and trapped in the wreckage. Rescue workers used cutting equipment to remove him, performed CPR, and transferred him to the emergency department of Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital, where he later died. Initial reports indicate the driver may have been speeding, and the road was poorly lit because streetlights had been out for an extended period. Police are gathering evidence and reviewing surveillance footage along the route to establish the precise cause.
