Ice Truck Rear-Ends Trailer, Driver Succumbs to Injuries
A six-wheel ice truck rear-ended a parked ten-wheel trailer on the roadside in Don Chedi, Suphanburi, trapping the driver inside. Rescue crews extricated him and performed CPR before he was taken to hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police are investigating the crash to determine its cause.
On October 17, 2026, Police Lieutenant Ekachai Marakajinda, investigator at Don Chedi Police Station, received a report that a six-wheel ice truck had collided with the rear of a ten-wheel trailer, leaving someone injured and trapped inside. He went to the scene and coordinated with the Suphanburi-based Samakum rescue team to assist the injured.
At the crash site, the six-wheel ice truck had slammed into the ten-wheel trailer with great force; the front of the ice truck was severely damaged, its windshield shattered, and the driver was trapped inside with serious injuries. Rescue workers had to use hydraulic cutters to quickly pull the driver from the wreckage. After extricating him, they performed CPR before rushing him to Don Chedi Hospital, where he was identified as Mr. Somboon (surname withheld). Initial examinations showed both legs broken and head wounds. He later died in hospital.
Investigation revealed that the ten-wheel trailer, with license plates from Saraburi, was parked roadside, its rear damaged and tail lights detached. The ice truck, bearing Suphanburi license plates, suffered heavy front-end damage.
Narin, 38, the driver of the ten-wheel trailer, said he had parked the truck to rest after working late, intending to return to Nakhon Sawan province after delivering an empty truck to Sra Krachom subdistrict in Don Chedi district. While inside the cab preparing to turn on the air conditioning, he heard a loud impact, felt himself thrown forward, and saw the ice truck slam into the rear of his trailer, scattering some of its cargo.
Police have thoroughly examined the scene, taken witness statements, and gathered evidence to determine the cause of the accident and proceed with legal action.
