Toddler Falls to Death From 8‑Storey Bangkok Condo Balcony
A two‑year‑old boy fell from the balcony of an eight‑storey condominium in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thian district and died despite rescue efforts. His mother said she had left the apartment to do laundry opposite the building when she heard cries that her son had fallen. Police are investigating the incident and will question the mother further.
The mother, identified as 38‑year‑old Ms. Sichayawan, told police she had left the apartment to take laundry to a shop across the street while her son was sleeping. Shortly after she crossed the road, she heard people shouting that a child had fallen and ran back to find her son lying on the ground. Rescue workers attempted CPR with a defibrillator but were unsuccessful, and the boy was declared dead at the scene. Police said they would collect evidence and review nearby CCTV footage, noting that no one else had entered or exited the apartment besides the mother. She will be taken to Tha Fah Police Station for further questioning before the body is released to the family for religious rites.
