Car Hits Motorcycle Sidecar, Injures Six Pedestrians in Phuket
A 53‑year‑old woman looking at her GPS drifted into a motorcycle sidecar selling meatballs on Luang Pho Chuang Road in Karon, Phuket, sending the bike into pedestrians. Six people—including the motorcycle driver, two Thai women, a German tourist, and two young German children—were injured and taken to Chalong Hospital. Police are investigating the crash and will take legal action.
Investigators said the woman, identified as Suttisa, 53, was driving along Luang Pho Chuang Road when she became unfamiliar with the route and looked down at her GPS navigation, causing her to lose control and veer into the parked motorcycle sidecar ridden by Prasit, 33, a local resident of Karon. The collision launched the motorcycle into nearby pedestrians, injuring five passersby: a 36‑year‑old woman, a 50‑year‑old woman, a 45‑year‑old German woman named Christina Ruch, and two German children aged seven and two. Including the motorcycle rider, six people were hurt and all were taken to Chalong Hospital for treatment. Police are continuing their investigation and will proceed with legal steps.
