Pattaya Theft Suspect Escapes Court Transfer, Flees on Bicycle
Pattaya coffee shop owner identified a repeat thief who had stolen from her store two months prior, lured him with beer and had him arrested. The suspect escaped from police custody while being transferred to court, fleeing over the courthouse wall and stealing clothes and a bicycle in a nearby village. Police are actively searching for him, confident he will be apprehended shortly.
After his escape, over twenty police officers surrounded the village where the suspect had hidden. He entered a house, washed blood from his injury at a sink, stole residents' clothing to change into and took a bicycle, riding away toward Khao Phra Tamnak Road. Villagers said he was not wearing handcuffs during the escape. Police Commander Enok Sratongyu ordered both uniformed and plainclothes teams to pursue the suspect, believing he has not gone far and will be caught soon.
