Mother Donates Organs of Son Who Died From Brain Hemorrhage
A mother in Phetchabun donated her son's kidneys and eyes after he died from a brain hemorrhage, potentially saving four lives. The organ donation was honored by hospital officials and the Red Cross. She said she made the decision after seeing many patients suffer from kidney disease and other illnesses.
Ultimate merit: mother sacrifices, donates son's organs after brain hemorrhage, saving four more lives. Considered a great merit for her son. On October 19, 2026, at Phetchabun Hospital, Dr. Sirichai Sratthachathamrong, deputy director of medical affairs, presented a certificate of honor and a Red Cross wreath to Yongyut Boonthai, 40, who died from a cerebral hemorrhage. His relatives donated organs that could help four other patients. Receiving the award were his mother, Mon Boonthai, 72, and family members. Mon said her son had suffered from hypertension for years but recently stopped taking his medication. On October 14, he fainted and was taken to Lomsak Hospital, where doctors found a brain bleed; he was transferred to Phetchabun Hospital. Physicians discovered massive brain bleeding and brain death, legally considered death, and informed the organ donation program. As a village health volunteer, Mon had seen kidney patients needing daily dialysis and others suffering greatly, so she agreed to donate her son's organs—both kidneys and both eyes—which could help up to four more patients live better lives, also making a great merit for her son. She wished her son peace and said the merit from this donation would guide his spirit to a better realm.
