Police Raid Huai Khwang Drug Den, Arrest Girlfriend, Seize Ice
Huai Khwang police raided a drug den in the Ladprao 80 community, arresting the girlfriend of a suspected dealer and seizing nearly 50 grams of ice and ya ba tablets. The investigation led to a second arrest of a man renting a room in the same building, who was found with additional ice, packaging, and paraphernalia. Both suspects tested positive for drug use and confessed to possessing the drugs for sale.
At 6:00 a.m. on October 19, 2069, Pol. Col. Sornsak Thongmee, Pol. Lt. Col. Ekarat Malawannano and Pol. Lt. Col. Thanet Srijampa of Huai Khwang Police Station ordered the investigation and prevention police to conduct a sweep and inspection of drug targets in the area. Acting on an informant tip, officers learned that a group was using a house without a number in the Ladprao 80 community, Samsen Nok, Bangkok, as a gathering place and drug outlet, with the main target identified as “Sun.” Police moved in and arrested two individuals. First, they went to the target house and knocked; Miss Koungnang, 33, opened the door. While she was detained, Sun escaped through the back. A thorough search of her room, conducted in clear light, uncovered four items: about 48.01 grams of ice hidden in a tool cabinet, 11 ya ba tablets in a black bag, about 0.56 grams of ice and six ya ba tablets in a cloth box on a makeup table. She was taken to Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital for a drug test, which returned positive. During questioning, she admitted the drugs belonged to her boyfriend Sun, that she had been keeping them for sale, and that she had used ice prior to the raid. She was initially charged with possession of category‑1 drugs (ya ba and ice) with intent to sell, causing community spread, and illegal drug use.
Officers then inspected a rented room in the same building, which belonged to Sun. Inside they found a man, later identified as Saksan, 29, also known as Chai. He voluntarily allowed the search. Officers discovered approximately 0.21 gram of ice on a makeup table, about 2.29 grams of ice in six bags inside a drawer of the same table, 120 zip‑lock bags, and two drug‑use utensils under the table. Saksan’s urine test at Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital was positive for ice. He confessed that the ice was his, intended for sale to customers and for personal use, and that he had used ice before being arrested. He was charged with possession of category‑1 methamphetamine (ice) with intent to sell, causing community spread, and illegal drug use.
