Songkhla Governor Ratsathit Chidsue has warned residents in 10 districts to brace for very heavy rainfall from October 21-25, 2026, and ordered disaster preparedness measures including temporary shelters for evacuees.
Following heavy rain on October 20, Governor Ratsathit Chidsue closely monitored the situation and urged Songkhla residents to follow weather forecasts from the Thai Meteorological Department. The Eastern Southern Meteorological Center warned of heavy rain covering 60% of the area, particularly in Sathing Phra Peninsula, Mueang, Hat Yai, Klong Hoi Khong, Sadao, Na Thawi, and Sabayoi districts. Variable winds of 15-30 km/h are expected with waves around 1 meter, exceeding 2 meters in thundery areas.
The governor stated that Songkhla must remain on alert through October 25 as the South continues to experience continuous rainfall. Residents are warned of dangers from strong gusts, heavy to very heavy rain, and accumulated rainfall that could trigger flash floods and forest runoff in foothill and low-lying areas. Boat operators should exercise caution and avoid thundery areas for safety.
The Songkhla Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office has relayed warnings to district offices and relevant agencies to closely monitor conditions, alert residents to heavy rain dangers, and prepare for flash floods and forest runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones. Temporary shelters must be ready to accommodate evacuees, with district agencies, local administrations, village heads, and volunteers tasked to provide sufficient food, drinking water, and essential supplies at evacuation centers.
