SAM Extends Debt Relief for Flood Victims Across 22 Provinces
SAM has expanded its flood‑relief debt‑moratorium to cover an additional 22 provinces and 119 districts, allowing affected borrowers to suspend principal and interest payments for up to three months. The programme builds on earlier assistance for 50 Bangkok districts and includes a low‑interest “Debt Clinic by SAM” option for NPL credit‑card and personal loans. Applications are open until 14 December 2026 via call centre 1443 or online.
SAM said customers enrolled in its debt‑restructuring scheme can suspend full payment of principal and interest for up to three months; after that, the company will allow partial payments based on actual ability for a maximum of six months from the date of enrollment. Interest accrued during the relief period and interest from the last payment date, not exceeding 90 days, will be deferred and paid in the final installment of the restructuring agreement, subject to company terms. The expanded coverage now includes 22 provinces and 119 districts identified by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation: in the North – Phitsanulok, Nakhon Sawan and Uthai Thani (11 districts); in the Central region – Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Nayak, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Ang Thong, Sing Buri, Chai Nat and Lop Buri (64 districts); in the West – Samut Songkhram, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Phetchaburi (15 districts); and in the East – Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong and Prachin Buri (29 districts). For NPL credit‑card, cash‑card and unsecured personal loans, SAM operates the “Debt Clinic by SAM” programme, offering relaxed interest rates of 3‑5 % per year and repayment terms of up to 10 years. Borrowers can choose from three options: repayment within four years at 3 % per year, longer than four but not more than seven years at 4 % per year, or longer than seven but not more than ten years at 5 % per year. Eligibility requires a regular income, age under 70, and total debt not exceeding two million baht. Applications are accepted from today until 14 December 2026 via the website www.debtclinic.com or the call centre 1443 (press 6). Ms. Notsnarree Ratapat added that SAM’s role as a social asset manager is to give borrowers “time” and “breathing space” so they can regain their footing and manage their debts once the flood situation eases.
