Prachinburi Flood Kills 26, Submerges 7 Districts
Heavy flooding in Prachinburi province has killed 26 people and inundated seven districts, affecting nearly 600,000 households and vast tracts of farmland. Water levels are now receding, but rescue and relief operations continue with shelters set up for over a thousand displaced residents. Authorities have also cracked down on factories violating safety regulations during the crisis, ordering three to shut down.
According to Deputy Governor Chanathip Kokmanee, floodwaters have been receding steadily since heavy rains began on September 21, with water levels now below the banks at all monitoring stations. The disaster has impacted seven districts, 65 sub-districts, 691 villages, and 37 communities, affecting 59,727 households. Casualties total 26, comprising 21 drownings and five electrocutions. Agricultural losses are severe: 109,685 rai of crops, 58,732.75 rai of fisheries, and over 447,000 livestock affected. While the Nadie district has returned to normal and Prachantakam has closed its evacuation shelters, low-lying riverside areas still retain standing water. The province has established 35 shelters housing 1,340 evacuees, supported by royal kitchens and relief agencies. Local officials continue to distribute supplies, visit shelters, and coordinate recovery plans with disaster prevention and air operations authorities. Meanwhile, the Prachinburi Industrial Office, together with the "Topgun" special team and the Department of Industrial Works, inspected over 20 factories in Sri Mahaphot and Kabin Buri. Three facilities were ordered to cease operations: Green Environment Technology Co. (temporary halt due to pollution risk), GKC Recycling Co. (violation of prior shutdown order, assets seized, legal action pursued), and MVY Metal Co. (located in forest land without proper license, immediate shutdown, land deed verification underway). Wes To Co. was found faultless, and reports of rainbow-colored oil slicks have been confirmed as cleaned up by authorities.
