Phichit Police Seize Nearly 40,000 Meth Pills in Sting Operation
Phichit police arrested a 48-year-old man after buying 400 methamphetamine pills from him for 4,000 baht, then uncovered nearly 40,000 more hidden around his home. The suspect admitted to selling the small batch but denied knowledge of the larger stash, which police dismissed given his prior drug convictions. He has been charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell.
Phichit police were shocked after paying 4,000 baht for 400 methamphetamine pills, only to discover nearly 40,000 more hidden around a suspect’s house. On 19 October 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Suwassan Pilasopha of the Phichit Provincial Police Investigation Division, together with his team, planned a drug purchase from 48-year-old Khaek opposite the Wang Krot railway station in Ban Bueng, Mueang Phichit. An undercover officer used 4,000 baht in cash to buy 400 yaba pills at 10 baht each from Khaek. After the handover, the officer signaled the arrest team, which detained Khaek immediately. Police then searched his home and found yaba tablets concealed in the hedge around the house, buried in four locations, totaling approximately 39,870 pills. Khaek confessed to selling the 400 pills to the undercover officer but said he did not know who owned the additional nearly 40,000 pills found around his property. Officers doubted his claim, noting that Khaek had previously been imprisoned twice for drug offenses. Initially, he was charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell and transferred to the Mueang Phichit Police Station for further legal proceedings.
