Immigration Police Chief Orders Probe into KTV Bribery in Rayong
Immigration Police Chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopasin Punsawat has launched an investigation after accusations that officers took bribes from KTV venues in Pluak Daeng, Rayong. The probe follows a raid on four unlicensed KTV establishments where human‑trafficking signs were found and a tip‑off alleged a 10,000‑baht payment to immigration among seven agencies. A 15‑day deadline has been set, with promises of strict disciplinary and criminal action if wrongdoing is proven.
At 12:00 p.m. on October 19, 2069, Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopasin Punsawat, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, addressed the media regarding a special operation by the Department of Provincial Administration that raided four KTV venues in Pluak Daeng district, Rayong province. The venues operated without business licences and showed evidence of human‑trafficking patterns. A subsequent tip‑off alleged that payments totaling 10,000 baht had been made to the immigration police, one of seven government agencies named in the leak.
Nopasin said he had already signed a directive ordering Immigration Police Region 3 to form a fact‑finding committee, gather statements from complainants who accuse immigration and other police officers, and coordinate with Region 2 Provincial Police Commander, arresting units and the Bureau of Anti‑Human Trafficking to identify the individuals mentioned in the tip‑off and bring them to testify. He stressed that if evidence links anyone to the offence, both disciplinary and criminal penalties will be applied without hesitation.
The chief set a 15‑day limit for the investigation but urged officials to conclude it as quickly as possible to satisfy public demand. He added that a meeting of provincial immigration investigation heads, checkpoint chiefs and regional commanders had been held to clarify policy on inspections, suppression and law enforcement, ordering them to screen foreign workers who have entered illegally or are working in the area. Nopasin reiterated that superiors will not shield wrongdoers, and that anyone found innocent will be cleared while the guilty will face appropriate action.
