Government Opposition Set to Discuss No-Confidence Debate Schedule
Government and opposition whips are set to meet on October 21 to discuss the time frame for the upcoming no‑confidence debate against 18 ministers. Government whip Krawee Prisanananthakul said the talks should centre on the topics to be raised rather than a rigid three‑ or five‑day limit, and expressed confidence that the ministers are ready to respond. He also dismissed rumors of a merger between the Bhumjaithai and Kaotham parties.
Krawee Prisanananthakul, the government whip and Bhumjaithai MP for Ang Thong, told reporters on October 19 that the three party whips—government, opposition, and a Cabinet representative—will meet on October 21 to discuss the framework for the upcoming no-confidence debate. He said the focus should not be on insisting on either a three‑day or five‑day schedule, but on identifying the specific issues the opposition wishes to raise and determining how much time each topic needs. Krawee expressed confidence that the 18 ministers named in the motion are prepared to answer questions and denied rumors of a merger between the Bhumjaithai and Kaotham parties. He added that the government does not plan to set up a special guard for ministers, but that any MP who feels personally targeted has the right to respond, and that the debate should stay within parliamentary rules. When asked whether the Pheu Thai Party would join the support effort despite having no ministers under fire, he said the discussion was still ongoing.
