Elderly Woman Finds Safe Emptied of 9 Million Baht in Assets
A 63-year-old woman discovered her safe had been emptied of approximately 9 million baht in gold bars, cash, and land deeds, leaving less than 1 million baht in remaining items. She suspects her eldest son took the inheritance prematurely and plans to pursue legal action and file a theft report. The inspection took place at Wang Thonglang Police Station in Bangkok on October 22, 2026.
At 5:30 p.m. on October 22, 2026, police escorted 63-year-old Naphath, known as "Mae Phat," to inspect the contents of her safe at Wang Thonglang Police Station in Bangkok. Mae Phat wept as she recounted that the safe had two levels: the upper level stored gold bars and jewelry in bags, but the approximately ten 10-baht gold bars were gone, leaving only small 1-baht gold ornaments and a few bracelets. The lower level, which held several million baht in cash and some land title deeds, had been completely emptied except for old collectible banknotes. Remaining assets — brand-name handbags and a ring from her mother with great sentimental value — totaled less than 1 million baht, under 80 percent of the original 9 million. Mae Phat said the assets had been accumulated since marriage and intended as inheritance for her two children. She alleges her eldest son rushed to take the inheritance early and hopes to recover everything through legal proceedings. She also plans to file a police report against those involved in the theft, stating she has evidence of the safe's original contents but cannot disclose details at this time.
