Immigration Bureau officers arrested Mr. Wu, a 37‑year‑old Chinese national, on 17 October 2026 after he was wanted by the People’s Republic of China for alleged involvement in a transnational criminal network and money‑laundering. Acting on orders from Immigration Bureau Commander Pol. Lt. Gen. Nopsin Phusawat, a team led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Songprot Sirisukha and other officers used Interpol databases to track the suspect. Investigations revealed Mr. Wu served as a money‑laundering node, exchanging digital and foreign currencies for the gang and handling visa arrangements for related cases, with transactions across more than 133 accounts totaling over 500 million yuan (about 2.485 billion baht). He attempted to evade police by using false residency documents, changing licence plates and repainting his vehicle. Officers eventually traced him to a luxury home in the Ramkhamhaeng area of Bangkok’s Saphan Sung district, where he was taken into custody. His permission to stay in Thailand had expired about three years and eight months earlier, so he was charged with remaining in the kingdom after his permission ended under the Immigration Act of 1979, Section 81. He will be handed over to investigators for prosecution before being deported and returned to Chinese authorities to face the arrest warrant.
