Bangkok Youth Futsal Cup Returns Smiles After Floods
Teacher Premmy organized the 6th BKK Futsal Rising Star Super Cup for 24 youth teams in Bangkok's Phaya Thai district on October 17-18. The tournament aimed to restore happiness to children affected by recent flooding, providing a positive outlet through sports. The event continues Premmy's three-year mission to create community sports opportunities for youth development.
Teacher Premmy, Naraset Thiraprasit, organized the 6th BKK Futsal Rising Star Super Cup, opening the field to over 24 youth teams from Bangkok and surrounding provinces to compete during the school break. The primary aim was to restore smiles, create happiness, and encourage children and youth after many families dealt with flooding from heavy rains. The event used sports to create opportunities, develop skills, and promote productive free time away from drugs and delinquency.
The tournament took place on October 17-18 at the sports field under the expressway near the Wat Makok community in Phaya Thai district, Bangkok. Two age divisions were contested: Under-10 and Under-12, with 12 teams each for a total of 24 teams competing for trophies and prize money amid an atmosphere of fun, determination, and sportsmanship.
This event reflects Teacher Premmy's intention to make sports fields more than just competition venues, but spaces where children can find joy, meet friends, exercise, and showcase their abilities — especially during school breaks when youth need creative spaces for learning and self-development after facing situations that disrupted many families' lives.
Teacher Premmy, Naraset Thiraprasit, tournament committee chair, said the competition stemmed from a desire to see children smile and be happy again, particularly after many people and families encountered flood problems. He wanted futsal to serve as a space of happiness and encouragement for youth.
"I organized this tournament to bring back smiles to children in Bangkok during the school break, especially after many people and families faced flooding. I want children to return to playing sports, meet friends, exercise, and find joy in what they love. This field is not just a competition arena to find winners, but a space where children can display abilities, build friendships, and receive encouragement to move forward.
I want to encourage every family affected by the floods, and hope this small activity brings some happiness to the children. Going forward, I intend to continue organizing competitions continuously so youth have a stage to develop their football skills and regular opportunities to play sports. When the rain and flood situation eases, I want to hold activities more often so children have shared spaces of happiness," Teacher Premmy said.
Beyond creating happiness for youth, the BKK Futsal Rising Star Super Cup aims to promote productive free time, discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and lessons in winning, losing, and forgiveness, while building social immunity through sports to stay away from drugs and delinquency.
This tournament has run for six consecutive editions and is entering its third year, heading toward a fourth, reflecting a commitment to developing community-level sports so children and youth from diverse areas have real opportunities to play, exchange experiences, and continuously improve skills without waiting solely for major competitions. The event signifies not just a battle for trophies, but an intention to give children and youth moments of happiness and encouragement, with Teacher Premmy confirming he will continue.
