Bangkok Police Seize Laughing Gas Worth 7 Million Baht
Bangkok police raided a laughing gas warehouse in the Sathon district, arresting a 25-year-old suspect and seizing evidence worth over 7 million baht. The suspect confessed to taking orders via LINE and delivering the gas through Grab and other online services. Authorities charged him with selling nitrous oxide without a license under the Drug Act.
Police received a tip from an informant that someone using the LINE account 'Wonderwhip' was illegally selling nitrous oxide (laughing gas) through online delivery services such as Grab. Officers had the informant purchase one tank for 1,750 baht via bank transfer, after which the suspect arranged delivery via Grab. After receiving the gas, police traced the delivery route to a shophouse on Narathiwas Rachanakhin Road, Tung Wat Don subdistrict, Sathon district, Bangkok. On 15 October, police surrounded the building and observed a Thai man exiting with a blue cloth bag containing a tank of laughing gas and balloons. They identified themselves, searched him, and found one tank and balloons used for inhalation. He was taken in for questioning.
During interrogation, Narebet said his role was to prepare and deliver the gas according to orders received from the administrator, using Grab or other online delivery services. He also admitted that a large quantity of laughing gas was stored at the same shophouse. Police then raided the premises and seized all evidence: 687 tanks of laughing gas, 28,800 nitrous oxide canisters, 10,000 mixed nozzle heads, and 40,000 balloons, valued at approximately 7 million baht.
Initially, the suspect was charged with selling modern medicine (nitrous oxide) without authorization, violating the Drug Act of 1967. He was handed over to investigators at Yannawa Police Station for further legal action. The public is urged to report any information about drug sales or illegal activities to the Special Patrol Bureau or call the hotline 191.
