MUJI Expands Pin Klao Store To Over 1,000 Square Meters
MUJI has tripled the size of its Central Pinklao store in Bangkok to over 1,000 square metres, adding more product options while keeping its simple, functional concept. The expansion responds to customer feedback and aims to better serve local shoppers, including students, families and medical staff. Managing Director Ippe Ota said the Pin Klao location is strategic and the refurbishment reflects strong consumer demand in the area.
MUJI listened to customer feedback and opened an expanded store in Pin Klao, offering more product options while keeping its simple, practical concept. Amid intensifying competition in retail and lifestyle markets, MUJI Retail (Thailand) Ltd continues to follow the brand’s emphasis on simplicity, functionality, quality and solutions for everyday life. The company also stressed the importance of adapting stores to local consumer habits and carried out a significant renovation of the MUJI Central Pinklao outlet—not just a facelift but a three‑fold increase in the “happiness space” to more than 1,000 square metres. The expansion mirrors the growth of its customer base and steady approval from local shoppers.
Managing Director Ippe Ota said Pin Klao is a strategic location with potential on Bangkok’s west side, connecting Thonburi, inner Bangkok and nearby areas such as Taling Chan, Bang Kruai and Nonthaburi, and surrounded by communities, schools, hospitals, offices and important trade centres. He added that Central Pinklao has long served as a lifestyle hub for the neighbourhood, and after its recent renovation it now plays an even greater role in upgrading the area and supporting growth toward a lifestyle destination, attracting a diverse mix of shoppers including students, office workers, families and medical staff who value family, home and daily convenience, and prefer products that are practical, high‑quality and offer long‑term value.
In response to shifting location dynamics and clearer consumer habits, MUJI decided to develop the store to match both the mall’s growth and customer needs. The enlargement was not based solely on space considerations but incorporated behavioural data and customer feedback, encapsulated in the concept “From Your Voice… to a New Store, Bigger and More Complete”. The design retains MUJI’s distinctive simple atmosphere under the same global standards, using natural materials, neutral tones and layouts that help shoppers visualise how items fit into everyday life.
Compared with the former shop, the new outlet features a far broader range of product categories arranged for easy navigation, with special focus on items relevant to local lifestyles such as household goods, storage equipment, clothing, food and daily necessities. The expansion reflects MUJI’s confidence in the long‑term potential of the Pin Klao location and its growing customer base.
Akira Ichima, General Manager of Sales and E‑commerce, noted that MUJI does not position itself merely by chasing trends or competing on price; instead it remains committed to offering everyday essentials through simple, functional design, high quality and durability.
