Actress Ploy Chermol Warns of High Cancer Treatment Costs
Actress Ploy Chermol spoke at the Pink Ribbon Run 2026 in Bangkok about the high cost of her cancer treatment, saying it would have been disastrous without insurance. She urged patients to stay positive, seek early detection, and rely on family and friends for support while continuing her own medication and regular check‑ups.
Ploy Chermol described how she first felt devastated and stressed upon her cancer diagnosis, which took a toll on her health, but she eventually learned to love herself again and focus on small joys each day. She said she underwent an initial surgery that cost almost three million baht, and that her overall treatment would have been far more expensive without the insurance policy she had taken out when she was younger. The actress now takes medication daily and visits her oncologist every four months, with a mammogram every six months, and she encourages others to get checked early, noting that modern medicine offers good chances of recovery if the disease is caught promptly. Ploy also highlighted the role of emotional strength, saying that fear can harm both mind and body, and that staying positive and surrounded by supportive family and friends helped her through the toughest moments. She added that while her romantic status remains "pink" — meaning open but unattached — she continues to inspire fellow cancer patients by sharing her journey at events like the Pink Ribbon Run 2026 at One Bangkok Boulevard.
