On Friday, October 2, 2026, the Mahathera Sangha Council assigned Somdet Wachiranat-hamoli (Suchat Dhammaratano), a council member and abbot of Wat Pak Nam Phasi Charoen, to represent the council as president of the Religion Patronage Day and the 24th anniversary of the establishment of the National Office of Buddhism. The Supreme Patriarch, Ariyavangsakhatayana, was invited to give a Buddhist teaching to officials and staff of the National Office of Buddhism at the Buddhist Hall in Phutthamonthon under royal patronage.

He shared a teaching from the Buddha: "The wise have strength to lead a crowd, bringing success." He explained that this maxim reminds all Buddhists to continually develop themselves with mindfulness and wisdom, so they may become wise leaders who guide others with honesty and virtue, bringing peace and happiness to organizations, the nation, and Buddhism itself. He compared this to the great conduct of all bodhisattvas, who lead all beings through patience, effort, and sacrifice, ultimately attaining perfect enlightenment despite great hardship.

Addressing ongoing challenges faced by Buddhism, the monastic community, and the National Office of Buddhism, he urged officials, staff, and all Buddhists to increase their patience, perseverance, and sacrifice, thereby accumulating merit that benefits themselves and society. He concluded by expressing gratitude to supporters of Buddhism and wishing everyone prosperity and success in their endeavors.

The National Office of Buddhism was established on October 3, 2002, under the Ministry Reorganization Act of 2002. Its mission is to support the monastic community and the state, promote and protect Buddhist affairs, manage Buddhist properties, and develop Phutthamonthon as a center of Buddhism. This year marks its 24th year of operation.
