On 20 October 2026, Somrak Kamsing arrived at the Region 4 Appeals Court in Khon Kaen around 09:30, accompanied by about ten friends who gave him encouragement before he entered the courtroom. He did not speak to the press. The Appeals Court announced its decision, overturning the lower court’s ruling: it dismissed the attempted rape charge and retained only the charge of abduction of a minor. The court sentenced Somrak to one year imprisonment, with no suspension, and ordered him to pay 80,000 baht in compensation. He had previously deposited 120,000 baht with the court. The lower court had originally sentenced him to four years and eight months; after a one‑third reduction for his cooperation, the term was reduced to two years and thirteen days, with 50,000 baht payable to the girl’s relatives and 120,000 baht to the victim plus interest. Somrak had been released on bail of 300,000 baht while awaiting the appeal.
