Police Shootout Kills Two Drug Suspects in Phetchaburi

At 9:00 PM on October 20, 2026, Pol. Lt. Col. (female) Patama Suriya, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Kaeng Krachan Police Station, reported a shootout between narcotics suppression officers and drug suspects near the Nong Chumphon overpass in Moo 2, Bang Khem subdistrict, Kaeng Krachan district, Phetchaburi. Senior officers, forensic teams, and rescue workers rushed to the scene.

A bronze Ford Everest with Ratchaburi license plates was found parked beside the overpass in a poorly lit area. Next to the vehicle lay the body of Mr. Chatrin (alias), 27, wearing a navy long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans. He had been shot seven times in the side, shoulder, chin, back, and chest. An 11mm pistol lay in his right hand. Three bullet holes were found on the driver's side window. Inside the vehicle, numerous cardboard boxes containing crystal methamphetamine (ice) were discovered; the exact quantity is being counted at the Phetchaburi Provincial Forensic Office.

About 30 meters from the rear of the vehicle, the body of Mr. Rung-arun (alias "Boss"), 27, wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt and gray shorts, was found with three gunshot wounds to the shoulder and back. A 9mm pistol lay nearby.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Sirthakhet Kruawattanaset, Commander of Provincial Police Region 7, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Phumin Phumphanmuang, Commander of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, inspected the scene. They revealed that police had received intelligence from northern sources that a drug convoy would transport narcotics through the area. Officers set up surveillance and prepared to intercept. When the suspect vehicle entered the area, police identified themselves to search and arrest, but the suspects opened fire first, leading to the exchange of gunfire that left two suspects dead.

Police are currently gathering evidence and witnesses at the scene. The seized drugs will be counted before further legal proceedings.
