Jealous Gunman Kills Love Rival Outside Ayutthaya Factory
A 38-year-old man from Ang Thong province confessed to shooting dead a 24-year-old factory worker in Wang Noi, Ayutthaya, over a love triangle. The suspect told police he had spent heavily on a woman who only saw him as a friend, while the victim was her boyfriend. The shooter is in custody and faces a possible death penalty as investigators continue gathering evidence.
Police have revealed the confession of a 38-year-old man, identified as Tee, who admitted he was only a "person to talk to" for a woman before jealousy drove him to shoot dead a 24-year-old man, Thanabodi, outside a factory in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The incident occurred on October 21 at the Factory Land industrial estate in Wang Noi district. Thanabodi was waiting on his motorcycle to pick up his girlfriend after her shift when Tee opened fire. The conflict stemmed from a love triangle: Tee had been talking to the woman while the victim was dating her. Throughout the day, no relatives visited Tee at Wang Noi Police Station, only distant cousins who came out of sympathy and asked police if he needed anything, but Tee declined. Later, Pol. Lt. Col. Decha Rattanapakdee, an investigator at Wang Noi Police Station, took Tee from the holding cell for further questioning alongside a lawyer from the Lawyers Council, as the case carries a possible death penalty. While in custody, reporters asked Tee about the motive and his relationship with the woman. He continued to insist she had only ever given him the status of a "person to talk to," even though he had previously asked to be her boyfriend and was rejected without explanation. Tee said, "I accepted that status and devoted both my love and money, hoping the woman would return my love." Regarding a re-enactment, police have not yet decided whether to proceed, as investigators are still gathering evidence and assessing safety concerns following intense public scrutiny and widespread online criticism.
