Government Extends Franchise Support Program to December 2026
The Thai government has extended its franchise support program until December 2026, offering 50% subsidies up to 10,000 baht for citizens and flood victims to start franchise businesses. The program includes 109 participating franchises and access to over 20,000 retail locations nationwide, with state banks providing special low-interest loans. Officials expect the initiative to create 10,000 careers and circulate at least 1.1 billion baht into the economy.
Deputy Government Spokesperson Ploythale Lakkhana Sengchan revealed that the government, through the Department of Business Development under the Ministry of Commerce, has extended the "Thai Helps Thai Franchise Career Creation Plus" project until December 2026. The program aims to help citizens and flood victims who want to create jobs, build careers, increase income, and become new business owners through franchising. The government subsidizes 50% of the franchise package value, capped at 10,000 baht per person.
The project has also arranged cooperative sales spaces at over 20,000 locations nationwide, including Makro, Lotus, fresh markets, and PTT stations. For those without sufficient funds, state financial institutions stand ready to support with special interest rates.
Currently, 109 franchises have joined the project, giving applicants a choice of businesses matching their needs and potential. Already, 493 applications for franchise packages have been received. Under the program, the government supports 50% of the franchise package value, up to 10,000 baht per person, with a target of creating 10,000 careers.
The project collaborates with SME Development Bank, Krungthai Bank, Government Savings Bank, and the Small Industry Credit Guarantee Corporation to provide franchise buyers with insufficient capital access to funding at special interest rates with credit guarantees, reducing barriers to starting a business.
"The Thai Helps Thai Franchise Career Creation Plus project uses the potential of franchise businesses as a tool to create careers and income, aiming to give citizens wanting to start businesses access to enterprises with systems and standards," said Ploythale. "At the same time, it connects franchisors with new entrepreneurs, generating branch expansion, employment, and income circulation in local areas. The project is expected to circulate no less than 1.1 billion baht into the economic system from branch establishment and business operations of participants according to set targets."
