Education Minister Brokers School-Football Club Deal, New MOU Next Week
Education Minister Akkharawut brokered a deal between Buddhikangsipibul School and Taengmo United FC
Education Minister Akkharawut Kanchanakitthinan chaired a meeting on October 20, 2026, at the Ministry of Education to resolve the dispute between Buddhikangsipibul School and Taengmo United Football Club. Attendees included the Permanent Secretary, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Basic Education Commission, the school director, and Taengmo United coach Sakhon Kliangprasert.
The minister reported the talks went well, with all sides sharing the goal of protecting students from the conflict's impact and allowing them to combine studies with their beloved sport. A joint conclusion was reached under school and ministry regulations, and a draft MOU will be prepared for both parties to review within two days before returning feedback for signing next week.
The minister added that the ministry will send legal teams and advisors to act as intermediaries during the six-month transition, tracking and evaluating outcomes via KPIs to build understanding, reduce friction, and address any emerging issues.
Coach Sakhon said the discussion ended positively because all parties have the athletes' best interests at heart, accept wins and losses, and are ready to move forward for the children's future. The club will implement the draft MOU and hopes Buddhikangsipibul School becomes a model for academy-school collaboration under proper regulations, expanding the approach nationwide.
The school director thanked the ministry for mediating and affirmed the school prioritizes the welfare of all 940 students, aiming for every child to learn happily and safely without division in the institution.
