Contractor Defends Rainbow Stadium Renovation Pace After Fan Complaints
The contractor renovating Pattani's Rainbow Stadium for Thai League 1 has defended the project timeline after fan criticism. Thiwattana Wiset owner Athirat Kongkaew detailed two months of completed groundwork — including drainage, track reconstruction, and surface milling — and confirmed the contract was awarded through proper government bidding. Pattani FC continues to play home matches at Tinsulanon Stadium while the 10-month upgrade proceeds.
Thiwattana Wiset Company, contracted to upgrade Rainbow Stadium for Pattani FC's Thai League 1 debut, has responded to public criticism over perceived delays. The newly promoted southern club has relocated temporarily to Tinsulanon Stadium while renovations bring Rainbow Stadium up to top-flight standards. Company owner Athirat "Khun Kati" Kongkaew posted a walkthrough video on his Facebook page showing current progress and explaining the scope of work. He clarified the stadium belongs to the Pattani Provincial Administrative Organization and is funded by public budget, with his firm securing the job through transparent central government bidding — not personal connections. Work began in early August under a 10-month contract ending next May. In the first two months, crews have demolished and rebuilt the outer drainage and running track curbing to correct a non-standard 400-meter track, and milled the existing asphalt and rubber surface for recycling and compaction before laying a new base. An internationally certified track surface and field-event equipment will follow. Kongkaew noted project speed depends on weather, soil conditions, and machinery availability, and pledged regular updates.
