Pet Owners' Viral Donations Overwhelm Mae Charim Hospital in Nan

A viral social media trend in Nan province has pet owners donating to Mae Charim Hospital while sharing humorous photos of their animals, resulting in donations far exceeding the hospital's target. The small community hospital, staffed by doctors and nurses who process receipts after shifts, has asked for patience as they work through the overwhelming response.

A heartwarming viral trend has seen pet owners flocking to donate to Mae Charim Hospital in Nan province after the hospital posted adorable thank-you cards. The trend went viral when the Mae Charim Hospital and Nan Hospital Facebook pages opened for donations to support medical equipment for patients, posting thank-you certificates for donors. It started with donors using photos of their pets to make merit — dogs, cats, birds, fish, cows, even crickets — with adorable names like "Nong Jut Won't Wriggle" and "Nong Yindee Who Likes to Suck Up to Mom and Dad," turning into a massive pet photo album. Donors gain merit, get to show off their pets, and receive double tax deductions. Donation amounts range from single digits to tens of thousands of baht. Recently, Mae Charim Hospital had to issue a clarification: they are grateful and still accepting donations, but the amount has far exceeded their target, so issuing receipt certificates may be delayed. The hospital stated: "We bow in gratitude for every stream of goodwill and power of faith sent to us. The donation total has far exceeded what we ever imagined. Every baht and satang is a huge morale boost and an opportunity to treat every patient in Mae Charim. Mae Charim Hospital is a small community hospital on a mountain; we don't have a dedicated admin team. Every certificate is made by doctors, nurses, and staff after finishing patient care during lunch breaks and after work. Even with everyone helping, certificates still reach donors slower than they should, and we sincerely apologize. Anyone who wants to continue donating is welcome to do so."
