A 30-year-old motorcyclist died after ignoring a closed railway crossing barrier in Bang Lamung, Chonburi, on October 20, 2026, at 14:30. District Chief Anusak Piriyom, Pol. Lt. Col. Rachapol Senuwong Na Ayutthaya, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Bang Lamung Police Station, and rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya Foundation investigated the collision between passenger train No. 284 (Sattahip–Bangkok) and a motorcycle at the Soi Chai Prawit crossing in Nong Prue subdistrict.
At the scene, a black motorcycle lay heavily damaged beside the tracks, and the body of the deceased, identified as Mr. Witthawin, 30, was found nearby. The train stopped after impact for inspection before proceeding to Bangkok.
Crossing guard Prasat Prasongsorn, a railway operations officer, stated he was on duty waiting for the train to pass. Barriers on both sides had been lowered normally, and other vehicles had stopped. Suddenly, the victim rode around the closed barrier in an attempt to cross. Despite Prasat shouting warnings, the rider did not stop and was struck violently by the passing train, dying at the scene.
Police have photographed the scene and gathered witness statements. Preliminary accounts confirm the rider violated the closed barrier before being hit. A full investigation is underway to determine the official cause.
