Labor Minister Pushes for More Thai Skilled Workers in Kuwait
Thai Labor Minister Julphan Amornwiwat met with Kuwait's ambassador to discuss increasing legal job opportunities for skilled Thai workers in Kuwait. The talks focused on professions like Thai massage, welding, and crafts, with both sides emphasizing fair wages, benefits, and rights protection for Thai workers in the Middle East.
On October 21, 2026, Labor Minister Julphan Amornwiwat welcomed Kuwaiti Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Dr. Meshal A M A Almansour, for a courtesy visit and talks on bilateral labor cooperation. Attendees included Permanent Secretary Wanthong Khajorrak, Assistant Permanent Secretary Sakdinat Santisakyothin, Advisor to the Minister Kridta Tantithodthit, and Advisor Thidarat Yingcharoen, along with ministry executives and embassy representatives.
Minister Julphan noted that Thailand and Kuwait have maintained strong diplomatic relations for over 63 years, with Kuwait being a key partner in the Middle East. The Ministry of Labor prioritizes promoting employment cooperation and skills development to increase opportunities for Thais to work abroad legally with proper income, benefits, and rights protection.
"We emphasize expanding job opportunities for Thai workers in Kuwait, particularly in professions where Thais excel — such as Thai massage, welding, pipe fitting, beauty, and skilled crafts — as well as exchanging labor market information to align skills with Kuwaiti demand. We also promote cooperation on rights and welfare protection so Thai workers gain quality, stable employment," Minister Julphan said.
