Justice Minister Denies Whitewashing in MP Husband's Gambling Case
Justice Minister Pol. Lt. Gen. Ratchaphon Naowarat rejected allegations of a cover-up in the investigation of Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Saeng's husband, Thayang Saeng, who is linked to online gambling and scam networks. The Department of Special Investigation is deciding whether to accept the case, and the minister stressed that the judicial process will proceed impartially regardless of political party affiliation.
Justice Minister Pol. Lt. Gen. Ratchaphon Naowarat denied any whitewashing in the case involving the husband of MP Suchada Saeng after the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) weighed whether to take it on as a special case, emphasizing that once a matter enters the justice process, no one escapes accountability even if they are from the Bhumjaithai Party. Speaking at Government House at 9:00 a.m. on October 22, 2026, the minister addressed the DSI's consideration of a case against Thayang Saeng, husband of Bhumjaithai Chaiyaphum list-MP Suchada Saeng, over shareholdings linked to online gambling websites and scam networks. Public concern had grown that the case might be dropped. Ratchaphon noted the DSI had previously summoned former Songkhla Democrat MP Sirichok Sopha, a witness in the case, as well as People's Party list-MP Rangsiman Rome, confirming investigators are gathering evidence from all sides and will ensure fairness for both parties. When asked whether anyone outside Bhumjaithai would be safe, the minister affirmed it is impossible once a case is in the system, as it must proceed through the full judicial process to prosecutors and courts.
