DSI Chief Says He Will Not Intervene in Seat-Buying Case
DSI Chief Piya Raksakul said he will not interfere in the Senate seat-buying case, insisting the investigation should follow legal procedures. He made the remarks at the Government House, noting that responsible officials are already handling the matter. The chief left the press conference after being called to a meeting with the Prime Minister.
Piay reiterated that he will not meddle in the Senate seat-buying case after opposition voices demanded the DSI chief stay out of it, saying the case is already under process and he wants it to proceed according to law. Speaking at the Government House at 10:50 a.m. on October 19, 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Piya Raksakul, Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), said he initially declined to answer reporters' questions. When pressed for updates, he asked if they were serious, then noted he was there to discuss land nominee issues, while the Senate case was already being handled by responsible officials. He added that opponents had warned against letting the DSI chief interfere, so he confirmed he would stay out of it and let the authorities follow the law. He then left the press conference after being summoned by the Prime Minister for a meeting at Thai Khu Fah Building.
